Jumping into Palworld and experiencing all facets of the game may feel overwhelming at first glance, as the open-world game thrusts the player onto a land full of creatures. Not only do they have to survive the existence of these Pals, but the very real dangers of hunger, cold and hot temperatures, and running into enemy territory. One wrong turn could spell disaster, as players can easily find themselves lost and without food, making for a horrendous first day on new land.
Luckily, the openness of Palworld also means that players have unlimited opportunities to make the best of a bad situation: building a base that includes shelter and warmth, crafting weapons and Pal Spheres to help catch Pals, and structures to assist with building a solid foundation of tools and mills to create a proper life. As cliche as it may sound, the world is in the hands of the player, and these tips and tricks will help provide a smoother path to success.

An intrepid Palworld explorer shares a convenient location where players can find ore and coal, two precious resources in the game.
Creating The Palbox & Assigning Pals To Jobs
Pals Have Plenty Of Uses Besides Helping Out In Battles
Before building the base that will ultimately change the way Palworld feels, players must first create the Palbox. This tool helps keep captured Pals in stock, storing up to 480 of them in total. Once the Paldeck is installed, players can begin building their base and creating large structures for shelter and material crafting. This may feel limited at first, but the more the Player Level grows, the bigger and better the tools and items begin to show up in the Technology section.
What makes Palworld so unique compared to other survival and creature-catching games is the reliance on these Pals to help get work done around the base. Whether it’s chopping down trees, mining for stone and ore, or planting seeds to grow some red berries, these Pals will assist with jobs — but only if they possess the necessary traits. To do this, pick up the Pal and throw it on the job that it can work on, and it will immediately begin to put in the labor.
Make Sure To Stockpile Cloth Material
Required To Create Life-Saving Outfits
One of the more useful materials in the game, both early on and throughout the later stages, is cloth. Cloth is used to create clothes that help stave off freezing temperatures. If a player is caught out late at night without a torch, they’ll slowly freeze to death if they don’t find a heat source. While a torch is relatively easy to create, it also takes up a spot in the player’s four slots to hold weapons and crafting tools.
Instead, prioritize unlocking different outfits that benefit the player’s ability to resist the cold, as well as others that place more of a focus on defense against certain types of Pal. An easy way to build up stock for cloth is to farm wool, either by taking down Lamballs or placing them on the ranch to farm them. Before long, an inventory full of wool and cloth should be obtained.

Making The Right Choices With Technology Points
Unlock The Right Structures In The Early Game
A major component to sustaining a base that can provide protection and plenty of materials and food is putting focus on the technology one unlocks. Technology can be unlocked after every Player Level increases, by receiving several Technology Points. Using them is permanent, meaning once they are spent, the purchase cannot be reversed. Players also get one Technology Point per Fast Track checkpoint unlocked.
It’s important to note that in the early stages of the game, players are rewarded for building certain structures. To craft them, they will need to be unlocked in the Technology section, which is found in the game’s menu. Prioritize these crafts first before moving on to whichever area suits the player’s needs. Later in the game, building ingredient mills and farms will benefit the player in the long term, as hunting for these items will no longer be a requirement to survive.
Mounts Make Exploring The Map Easier
Do Not Wait Too Long To Unlock Saddles
This one is especially useful for players who have neglected to create gliders, which also serve as a good way to explore the land of Palworld more efficiently. Some Pals will have access to saddles, an item that needs to be created after unlocking in the Technology section. Don’t pass up these, as they cost a few points and will come in handy later.
Whether it’s by traveling the land at a faster speed or taking to the skies, these saddles help link the player to Pal and get through exploration more efficiently. Keep in mind that dashing and flying will utilize the player’s stamina system, so building that up in conjunction with these saddles is the ideal way to get by.
Understanding The Element System
Every Pal Has A Type With Strengths & Weaknesses
For those familiar with similar mechanics in the Pokemon franchise, the critters of Palworld also come with unique elemental types. Every Pal in Palworld comes with its own weakness — for example, Fire is weak to Water, and Water is weak to Electric. Similarly, types also have their advantages against other types, except for Neutral. While Neutral takes extra damage against Dark types, it isn’t super effective against any of the other types, placing it at a disadvantage.
There are also some Pals with two types, such as the Grass and Dragon Dinossom, which are stronger against Dark and Ground types, but weak against Fire and Ice types. Understanding these elemental advantages can be the difference between survival and defeat. Taking down Syndicate Bosses is another crucial area for utilizing this system, like bringing a Rushoar or Fuddler to the fight against Zoe and Grizzbolt.

Build Storage In Key Areas Of The Base
Strategic Planning Leads To A More Efficient Base
There’s no worse feeling than running past the lumber mill and accidentally picking up 200 pieces of wood, surpassing the maximum weight capacity by a couple of hundred pounds. Immobilized by a packed inventory, players must drop enough quantities to be able to once again move, only to accidentally pick up the 100 stones lying close by.
This is where the strategic placement of storage containers comes into play. It doesn’t take much to craft these helpful units, and players can place them anywhere on the base, as long as they don’t interfere with another structure. Placing them right next to areas that craft heavy materials is a good way to grab them and quickly dump them into storage. Alternatively, sticking them by a ranch is a good way to keep track of all the wool and other items gathered in that area.
Never Underestimate A Good Shield
Be Prepared For Battles As They Are Not Easy
Surviving the treacherous battles in Palworld is essential when traveling to new areas and discovering stronger Pals. One area where a player can ensure longevity in combat is through the crafting of shields, which can be equipped through the inventory system. It’s best not to sleep on these, they’re extremely helpful as they allow players to take a few blows before losing HP.
A good offense is a strong defense, so while crafting guns and ammo in Palworld earns players a monumental advantage in battle, remaining alive is just as important. The Common Shield is available as early as Player Level 4, while the Hyper Shield, the strongest one in the game, unlocks at Player Level 43 and requires 100 Paldium Fragments and Ancient Civilization Parts x30 to craft.
