Clear your first Elixir Well and Ancient Spire
A good example of exploiting enemy AI can be seen in the “Enter the Elixir Well” quest. In it, you have to explore the depths of a Shroud-infested location. Below, you’ll encounter a Fell Thunderbrute.
During our playthrough, we opted to shoot it with arrows as we moved back to the wooden steps. The target’s AI caused it to return to its original position, though it still aggroed whenever we hit it or whenever we came close enough. As long as we repeatedly damaged and/or aggroed it–without it resetting its original spot or HP–we were in the clear.
Our battle rewards included the Misfortune Mace weapon and a Shroud Core, which is used to upgrade the Flame Altar. The mini-dungeon itself also has a chest that contained the Wildwood Shortbow.
Past this point is another quest called “The Ancient Spires.” To reach the towering structure, however, you first need to have the aforementioned Glider and Grappling Hook. You then have to complete platforming sections with several traps before you reach the very top.
The top of the Ancient Spire acts as another fast travel point. Even better, it provides an awesome view of the surrounding countryside. That means you’ll be able to use the Glider to reach far-flung locations, essentially opening up the sandbox campaign in just a couple of hours.
