In today’s Daily Fix:
Footage of a cancelled Batman game by Monolith have been uploaded to a thread on X, but this isn’t some run-of-the-mill Batman game, it was set in (or at least heavily inspired by) Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy, AND it used the Nemesis system. Yes, the groundbreaking NPC system from Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor was originally meant for a Batman game. This new Batman game would have run concurrently with the Arkham games, and Warner Bros. eventually decided to focus on the LOTR franchise, leaving Rocksteady to do their thing with Batman with what eventually would be Arkham Knight. The Nemesis system would be retooled for Shadow of Mordor, which spawned a sequel, Shadow of War. In other news, a new study has been released with data pointing to gamers preferring older games to newer ones. Games like GTA 5 and Fortnite apparently dominated gamers’ playing times despite the release of high-profile titles like Tears of the Kingdom and Baldur’s Gate 3. And finally, Ninja Theory believes gamers actually want shorter games.
