Drone
Besides the winch, the drone is probably the device you’ll find yourself using the most. When active, you’ll be able to explore the area you’re in from the drone’s POV. You’ll be free to go up and down, left and right without worrying about the terrain.
You should use this device when you want to find the safest route somewhere or when you need a better aerial view of the area you’re in. You can also use the drone to detect points of interest near you.
The only downside to this device is that it has a limited area of operation, both in height and in length, so if you need to explore even further you’ll need to move the truck first before deploying the drone again.
However, there are walkarounds to this. Certain specialists, like Akane Ishida, can increase the range and height limits of your drone if you bring them with you on your expeditions.
Echo Sounder
The Echo Sounder is essential for expeditions where you’ll be traversing watery terrain. This object shows the water levels around your vehicle so you can decide if crossing that swamp or lake right in front of you is actually a good idea.
The Echo Sounder works with a colored system. When you activate the device a series of colored lines will appear in the body of water nearest to you.
Green lines indicate the depth is safe for almost any truck.
Yellow lines indicate the depth can be dangerous for your truck. However, you can still traverse the area if your truck has a snorkel equipped or if you have an upgrade that gives you a higher ground clearance.
