How Long Is FF7 Rebirth?
We logged in an entire article detailing how long it took five different people to beat FF7 Rebirth. Depending on how quickly you breeze through the story, it could take anywhere between 33 and 100 hours. If you’re on the shorter side, then you likely skipped most or all of the optional content. New Game+ is where you can fix that.
Sink your teeth into this lengthy list of end-game content you can complete after finishing the game.
Chapter Selection
Upon completing the main story of FF7 Rebirth, you will unlock the ability to use the Chapter Selection menu. This option will allow you to replay any of the game’s 14 chapters and do it with the brand-new Hard Mode option. Chapter Select can only be used by loading your completed save file then going into the System menu in the Pause screen. From there, you can see Chapter Selection.
How Does Progress Work on Chapter Select
In simple terms, all progress carries over as you select a chapter to replay: character levels, Materia levels, and affinity rankings between Cloud and his friends. Specific story progress within the chapter is reset. But there are a few options you can choose from when you select a chapter to replay.
You can select your side quest completion when you choose a chapter to replay.
- Retain Current Quest Completion Data (this only applies to the current playthrough)
- Restore Previously Completed Quest Data (this imports progress from different save files)
- Reset All Quest Data (this resets all progress for the chapter you’re about to replay)
If you didn’t get the green checkmark on a particular side quest, you can select the chapter it’s unlocked during and Reset All Quest Data. Then, as soon as you complete it, you can choose a new chapter and Restore previous quest data.
New Game+
FF7 Rebirth does not name it New Game+, but once you have a completed save file, new features become available.
